Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday constituted a task force for the formation of a proposed Northern Odisha Development Council (NODC).
According to official sources, Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra has been appointed the chairman of the task force.
The task force comprises eight members. The members are Higher Education Minister Suryavanshi Suraj, government deputy chief whip Gobinda Chandra Das, Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi, Keonjhar MP Ananta Nayak, Karanjia MLA Padma Charan Haibru, Champua MLA Sanatan Mahakud, Telkoi MLA Fakir Mohan Nayak and Basudevpur MLA Ashok Kumar Das.
The BJP had earlier announced that the government would constitute a task force to work out details for the formation of a development council for northern Odisha in line with one functioning for the western region of the state.
