Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday approved the appointment of 130 Assistant Professors of Odisha Medical Education Service (OMES) Cadre in nine broad-speciality disciplines.
The approval was made on the basis of a recommendation of the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC), according to official sources.
With this, the total number of appointed Assistant Professors has gone up to 195 in 16 broad specialities in the state during 2022. Earlier, with the approval of the chief minister, appointments were given to 65 Assistant Professors in seven broad speciality disciplines in September and October.
The broad specialities include general medicine, physical medicine, and rehabilitation, anatomy, tuberculosis and chest Diseases (TB & CD), ophthalmology, physiology, transfusion medicine, general surgery, paediatrics, community medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology (O&G), pathology, skin & venereal disease, anaesthesiology, microbiology, and fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT)
Notably, this will help in furthering the standards of medical education in the state and providing quality health care to the general public.
