Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday sanctioned Rs 30 lakh from the CM’s Relief Fund for the treatment of three patients of Balasore suffering from a complicated muscular disease.
According to an official release, Kiran Kumar Mallik and Suraj Kumar Mallik of Khantapada and Dibyanshu Dixit of Simulia are long suffering from a rare muscular disease called Duchene Muscular Dystropy (DMD), a genetic disorder characterised by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness due to the alterations of a protein called dystrophin that helps keep muscle cells intact.
The one-time grant of Rs 10 lakh will be paid to each patient for their treatment, which is quite expensive, it added.
