Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who is on a three-day visit to New Delhi, raised various issues including Mahanadi water dispute and paddy minimum support price (MSP), concerning the state at the 12th Standing Committee Meeting of the Inter-State Council chaired by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday here.

At the meeting, the Chief Minister urged the standing committee of the inter-state council to take urgent action to stop the unilateral construction activities by Chhattisgarh in the Mahanadi basin and constitute a Tribunal without delay to address the problem.

He also requested the committee to discontinue the Polavaram project in Andhra Pradesh as it will impact a large number of people in Malkangiri district adversely.

The CM further demanded an increase in the minimum support price (MSP) of common paddy from Rs 1,470 to Rs 2,930 per quintal as non-remunerative MSP for doubling farmers’ income.
