Bhubaneswar: The ruling BJD, led by its president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, will kick off its campaign in Berhampur Lok Sabha constituency and seven Assembly constituencies under it on Wednesday.
The BJP and the Congress are already campaigning there.
Party sources said the Chief Minister will leave Naveen Niwas at 3.05pm and arrive at Kanishi on the outskirts of Berhampur city at 3.50pm. He will address a public meeting there. Later, he will campaign for his party’s Gopalpur Assembly seat candidate Pradip Panigrahi.
From Kanishi, Naveen will leave on a special campaign bus for Berhampur city where he will campaign for his party candidate Bikram Panda at a road show.
After completing his campaign in Berhampur, he will leave for Chhatrapur to address a public meeting and campaign for his candidate Subash Chandra Behera during a road show.
The Chief Minister will also hold a road show at Ganjam and Rambha to campaign for his Berhampur Lok Sabha candidate Chandrasekhar Sahu. After completing his last road show at Rambha at 8.40pm, he will return to Bhubaneswar by road.
Security has been beefed up ahead of the Chief Minister’s visit. Notably, the first-phase elections for Kalahandi, Berhampur, Nabarangpur and Koraput Lok Sabha constituencies and 28 Assembly constituencies is scheduled for April 11.
