Coaching Centres Closed, Restricted Entry To Shopping Malls In Cuttack & Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: To contain the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the Commissionerate Police have issued a list of advisory for the denizens of the twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

In a tweet, Police Commissioner Sudhanshu Sarangi said that in accordance with the directive of the state government, all coaching/tuition centres will remain closed from Sunday. “Police will keep a close watch on all the coaching/tuition centres and take immediate action for violating the government guidelines,” he said while advising the parents not to send their children to these centres.

Stating that the licence to use loudspeakers to play music in bars and pubs in Bhubaneswar had been suspended till March 31, Sarangi said the shopping malls and super markets in the city have been asked to limit the number of persons entering at any given time, advise the customers to maintain at least six feet distance and stay away from holding sales promotion events. Besides, the sales persons have been asked to wear masks, follow strict hand hygiene and provide alcohol-based liquid to the customers for hand washing.

Replying to the queries about holding marriage and thread ceremonies, the police commissioner said these functions can be held in the presence of the family members. But they should postpone the reception till March 31.
