Balasore: A goods train carrying coal from Talcher to Andhra Pradesh reportedly caught fire near Sora in Odisha’s Balasore district on Wednesday.
The station master of Markona railway station noticed the fire razing from bogie no-13 and halted the train. Some railway staff were asked to douse the blaze. However, the fire-fighting exercise failed to contain the blaze.
Markona station master later informed the station master of Soro railway station, who sought help from the nearby fire station. Fire service personnel rushed to the spot and managed to extinguish the fire.
The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained, sources said.
