Bhadrak: Rural Police in Odisha’s Bhadrak district have begun an investigation into the allegedly torching of a vehicle by coal mafia at Marapur village of Ichhapur block late on Monday night.
Talking to mediapersons on Tuesday, Pratap Behera of Marapur village said that a team of officials of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) had arrived in the village on Monday following reports of rampant smuggling of coal by coal mafia from the coal-laden wagons along Bhadrak-Dharma route.
“As the RPF officials asked me about the modus operandi of the coal smuggling and the place where it takes place, I told them the location. Nursing a grudge against me for informing the RPF, the coal mafia set my vehicle on fire late in the night,” he added.
