Bhubaneswar: A helicopter of the Indian Coast Guard on Thursday joined the operation to trace a youth who went missing in the sea in Aryapalli area of Odisha’s Ganjam district.
Sources said the Coast Guard helicopter was deployed to assist in the rescue and search operation being undertaken by the personnel of Fire Services, Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), and police.
Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Satyabrat Sahu has directed agencies concerned to intensify the rescue operations for a missing youth who drowned in the Aryapalli sea near Chhatrapur on Wednesday.
The missing youth has been identified as Hemansen Behera from K. Aryapalli village.
Locals said Hemansen went swimming in the sea with four to five friends on Wednesday. Suddenly, a rogue wave swept him away, and he went missing in the water.
Ganjam district Collector Dibyajyoti Parida and Additional District Collector, Ganjam and Chhatrpur Sub-Collector visited the accident site.
