Puri: Members of the Snake Helpline rescued a cobra from a marooned house at Nanakera village near Kanasa in Puri district on Sunday.
Notably, in the wake of heavy rain Nanakera has been waterlogged and flood water of Rajua river has entered the village. Knee deep water is flowing at several places and roads in the village.
A four-ft-long cobra was spotted in Somanath Baliyarsingh’s house in the village which has been inundated for the past five days. The villagers, in a bid to rescue the serpent, informed the snake helpline, following which, its member Sushant Behera reached the spot with the help of a floating tube.
Sushant rescued the cobra from the house and released it into the nearest jungle.
