Mayurbhanj/Cuttack: A day after a rare 19 feet long King Cobra was rescued in Mayurbhanj district, another of about 10 feet was spotted inside a house at Mangarajpur in Choudwar of Cuttack district on Saturday morning.
On being informed, a team of the People For Animals (PFA), Cuttack Sadar unit, rushed to the spot and rescued the cobra.
It was later released into Damadamani forest in the presence of forest officials. The cobra is believed to have strayed into the house in search of food.
On Friday, a cobra was spotted in the house of one Ruhia Singh at Balipal village in Mayurbhanj district.
Spotting the cobra in his room, Ruhia jumped out of his bed and raised an alarm.
According to an ANI report, the rescuer from the forest department was unable to get hold of the giant cobra and sought the help of snake rescuer Krushnachandra Gacchayat.
Gacchayat flinched at the sight of the cobra, but mustered courage to rescue it when he felt that the villagers would kill it.
“I have not seen such a huge snake, about 19 feet long, in my life. Felt good after rescuing it and released it in Simlipal National Park,” he told news agency ANI.
In September this year, 17 cobra hatchlings were rescued in Kendrapara. In the same month, an 11-feet King Cobra was rescued from a pond in Pankar village of Buguda block in Ganjam district.
