Bhubaneswar: Cold wave conditions intensified in Odisha with Daringbadi registering a minimum of 2.8 degree celcius on Monday, the lowest of this season.

The Meteorological Department here attributed the prevailing conditions to the cold winds blowing from north and north-west India and the affect of intense snowfall in the Himalayas. Weather experts also blamed the record fall in temperature to the global warming, resulting in hot summers and colder winters.

Cold wave would conditions would continue for two more days, the Met Department said.

While Daringbari shivered at 2.8 degree Celsius, state headquarter Phulbani saw a new low of 3 degree Celsius. Some areas in the town saw frost accumulating atop houses and covering the windshield of cars.

Koraput saw the minimum dipping to 4.8 degree Celsius. In all, 12 places in the State saw the minimum remaining below 10 degrees. Angul recorded 5.6, Balasore (8.7), Bhawanipatna (6.0), Cuttack (8.8), Jharsuguda (6.8), Keonjhar (6.6), Sambalpur (7.5) and Titlagarh at 6.5 degree celsius.
