Cold Wave Intensifies In Odisha, G Udayagiri Remains Coldest At 3.1°C



Bhubaneswar: As severe cold wave conditions gripped Odisha, G Udayagiri, a hill station in Kandhamal district, continued to be the coldest place in the state for the second consecutive day recording 3.1 degrees Celsius.

As per the data shared by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the minimum temperature dropped below ten degrees Celius in at least 16 places in the state in last 24 ho

urs.

Closely following G Udayagiri, Semiliguda in Koraput recorded a minimum temperature of 4.6°C, while Phulbani recorded 5.5°C, Daringbadi 6°C, Koraput 6.5°C, Chipilima 7.8°C, Nabarangpur & Rourkela 8°C, Jharsuguda 8.2°C, Bhawanipatna 8.5°C, Angul 9°C, Kirei, 9.2°C and Dhenkanal, Rayagada, Boudh and Sundargarh recorded 10°C.

State capital Bhubaneswar recorded 12.6 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature in Cuttack stood at 12.4 degrees Celsius.

As per the weather agency, dense fog was experienced in Rourkela, where visibility was reduced below 200 metres. Shallow fog was witnessed in Bhawanipatna.

Notably, intense cold waves over the past two weeks have disrupted normal life across many parts of Odisha, forcing people to stay indoors from evening till morning.
