Bhubaneswar: The intense cold wave in Odisha will prevail for five more days till January 17, the Bhubaneswar Met Office predicted on Monday morning.
The Met Office duty officer, Madan Mohan Das, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow warning for intense cold wave at a few places in Angul, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Sonepur, Boudh and Balangir districts in the next 24 hours.
He said the cold wave condition in the state will continue till Friday as there is no significant synoptic system over Odisha and its neighbourhood.
Meanwhile, the lowest night temperature recorded in Odisha was in Sonepur and Phulbani at 6°C. The mercury dipped below 10°C at nine places — Daringibadi (7.5), Titlagarh (7.1), Koraput (9), Bhawanipatna (8.5), Talcher (9.7), Sambalpur (9.6), Keonjhar (9.1), Jharsuguda (9.4) and Angul (6.6).
Besides, the temperature remained below 12°C in Balasore (10.5), Chandbali (11.6), Cuttack (10.5), Bhubaneswar (11.4), Baripada (10.5), Sundargarh (11), Hirakud (10.4), Balangir (10) and Malkangiri (10.2).
