Bhubaneswar: While most parts of the coastal districts in Odisha witnessed a sharp fall in night temperature on Tuesday, the Bhubaneswar Met Office has predicted further dip in mercury in the next 72 hours.
According to a morning weather bulletin, Daringibadi in Kandhamal district continued to be the coldest place with 7.5 degree Celsius. The temperature remained below 10 degrees in Sonepur (9), Titlagarh (7.6), Phulbani (8.5), Keonjhar (9.8) and Angul (8).
Besides, in the coastal and interior pockets, the temperature remained at 12 degrees and below in Balasore (10.6), Chandbali (12), Cuttack (11.2) and Bhubaneswar (12), Baripada (11.4), Jharsuguda (10.2), Sambalpur (10.7), Sundargarh (12), Hirakud (12.1), Talcher (11.7), Bhawanipatna (10.7), Balangir (11), Koraput (12) and Malkangiri (12).
The Met Office duty officer, Sudhakar Mallick, said that there will be light to moderate rain or thunder shower at one or two places in Nuapada, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul and Keonjhar districts on Wednesday under the influence of a cyclonic circulation formed over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and neighbourhood. There will be rainfall at few in the North Odisha districts of Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Nayagarh and Khurda on Thursday and at one or two places in Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Ganjam, Puri, Rayagada, Koraput and Gajapati districts on Friday.
Mallick also said that there will be a further fall in the night temperature by 1-2 degree Celsius in the coastal districts during the next 24 hours from Wednesday. The temperature in the remaining areas of the state will come down to 3-4 degree Celsius during the next two days after the rainfall.
