Bhubaneswar: The night temperature in Odisha, which had witnessed a gradual rise for about a week, has come down appreciably in the last 24 hours as the cold wave has made a comeback in Odisha, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in a release on Tuesday.
A release by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, said that a high pressure formed over Odisha had prevented the wind flow from the north. But as the high pressure has subsided, the cold wind has started blowing across Odisha since the last 24 hours.
“As the weather is now clear and the cold wind has started blowing across the state, the night temperature is most likely to dip by 2-3 degree Celsius in interior Odisha with below 10 degrees at some places and 1-2 degrees in the remaining parts of the state for the next three days till January 18,” the release added.
The release has also cautioned drivers to drive their vehicles carefully as there would be poor visibility due to heavy fog in the north and coastal districts during the period.
Meanwhile, the temperature recorded on Tuesday was lowest in Talcher at 9.5 degree Celsius. Besides, the temperature remained at 12 degree and less in Angul (12), Jharsuguda (11.2), Keonjhar (12.9), Sambalpur (12.5), Sundargarh (11), Balangir (11.4), Koraput (11.6), Phulbani (11.5), Titlagarh (12.5), Sonepur (12.2) and Daringbadi (11.5).
