Bhubaneswar: The onset of the cold wave in Odisha began on Wednesday with a sudden fall in the night temperature in most places.
According to a morning bulletin of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) the night temperature recorded till 8.30 am showed lowest in Phulbani with 7.5 degree Celsius followed by Daringbadi (9).
However, the night temperature remained below 15 degree Celsius at 20 places — Balasore (13.8), Chandbali (14), Cuttack (13.5), Angul (12.8), Baripada (11.2), Jharsuguda (12.8), Keonjhar (11.8), Sambalpur (14.6), Sundargarh (10), Hirakud (14.1), Talcher (12.3), Bhawanipatna (12), Balangir (12.4), Koraput (10.6), Titlagarh (14), Malkangiri (13), Sonepur (14), Nayagarh (14), Boudh (13.5) and Rayagada (11.5).
The IMD has issued a yellow warning for the six interior districts of Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Angul, Boudh and Kandhamal for three days till January 2. During the period, the night temperature in the coastal districts will fall by 2-3 degree Celsius and by 3-4 degree Celsius in the interior districts.
