Jharsuguda: Banharpali police on Sunday detained five persons for allegedly throwing a labourer off Rampela Bridge in Jharsuguda district, considering him dead.
According to available information, the labourer engaged at Odisha Power Generation Corporation (OPGC) plant, sustained grievous injuries in a mishap that took place on Saturday.
His colleagues rushed him to Burla hospital after his condition deteriorated. Suspecting him to be dead, they threw him off the bridge on the way. Locals rescued him and alerted the police. Interrogation is on.
Meanwhile, a police team has been sent to OPGC plant where the mishap occurred to conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter.
