Berhampur: A female student of Plus II was critically injured after being brutally attacked by a youth in front of her college in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Thursday.
The shocking assault outside Podamari College under Sanakhemundi block has sent waves of anger and fear across the region, with locals demanding swift justice and stronger safety measures for students.

med with a sharp weapon as she was leaving the college premises. Eyewitnesses said the attacker suddenly approached and struck her multiple times, causing severe injuries. Panic gripped the area as students and passers-by rushed to her aid, while the attacker fled the scene immediately after the assault.
The injured student was quickly shifted to a health centre at Podamari treatment and later shifted to a hospital at Digapahandi due to her critical condition. Doctors have confirmed that she sustained deep wounds and remains under intensive medical care.
A police team visited the spot soon after the incident and launched an investigation. Preliminary probe indicates that the attacker may have had personal motives, though all possible angles are being probed. Efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the accused, police said.
