Sambalpur: A girl student of Gokul Parvati Rural (GPR) College in Kuntara of Sambalpur district was critically injured after a youth attacked her with blade on Friday.
The victim, a Plus III first year student, sustained injuries on her neck and was immediately rushed to a local community health centre.
According to available information, the youth reached the college and asked for the girl by identifying himself as a family member.
A peon of the college called the girl outside her classroom. After having a short conversation, the accused took out a blade and attacked her. He immediately fled the spot after committing the crime.
On receiving a complaint regarding the incident, Kushumi police swung into action and managed to catch hold of the accused, who is being interrogated in connection with the attack.
