Cuttack: A college girl sustained critical injuries after being allegedly stabbed by a young man in Odisha’s Cuttack city on Tuesday.

As per reports, the incident took place when the girl alighted from the bus of an engineering college at Phulnakhara in the city and was walking towards her home in Pratap Nagari under Cuttack Sadar police station. The youth, who was waiting at the spot, intercepted her.

There was an argument between the two and following heated exchange of word, the agitated youth attacked the girl with a knife. She sustained injuries on her hand and thigh. As she started profusely bleeding and fell down, the local people rushed her to SCB Medical College and Hospital in the city. Her condition was stated to be critical.

The sources said the boy had earlier expressed his love and proposed to the girl but she had turned him down. Earlier, several complaints have been filed against the boy for allegedly misbehaving with young girls.

Police have registered a case and a team has gone to SCB Hospital. They have launched a manhunt to trace the boy who is absconding, the sources added.
