Dhenkanal: Two persons have been arrested for the alleged murder of a 17-year-old college girl, who was found dead with her head smashed in a forest area on the outskirts of Dhenkanal town in Odisha last month.
The arrested have been identified as Bijay Behera (35) and Narayan Sahoo (25), both of Khajuri hamlet in Mangalpur. The blood-stained stone with which the victim was killed and clothes of the two accused have also been seized.
Dhenkanal SP Madkar Sandeep Sampat said that the duo stoned the girl to death as they nursed old grudges against her father. Narayan, a cousin of the victim, also had a land dispute with her father. “The CCTV footage showed that Bijay had taken the girl on his motorcycle from Dhenkanal town to the jungle on February 29 where Narayan and his associates were waiting for them. Once they reached there, the three men hit her with a stone and she died on spot,” he said.
The third accused involved in the crime is on the run.
