College Principal Arrested For ‘Sexually Harassing’ Female Colleague In Odisha

Koraput: Principal of Plus II Women’s College at Sunabeda in Odisha’s Koraput district, Pabitra Kumar Bedanta, was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly misbehaving with a female colleague.

The complainant, who works as a computer operator, alleged that the principal harassed her and even tried to touch her inappropriately on multiple occasions inside the college.

Besides making sexual advances, he sent inappropriate messages to her mobile phone.

He was demanding physical intimacy to release the remaining Rs 5,000 of her monthly salary of Rs 10,000, she alleged.

The principal even threatened to get her removed from the job for spurning his advances, she added.

Acting on the complaint, police arrested Bedant under relevant sections of the IPC.
