College Principal Arrested For Sexually Harassing Woman Lecturer In Odisha

Khurda: The principal of a college in Odisha’s Khurda district was arrested by the police on Wednesday for alleged sexual harassment of a woman lecturer of the institute.

The accused has been identified as Pradipta Das, the principal of Paramananda College at Bolagarh. He was taken into custody based on a complaint lodged with the police.

It was alleged that Das had sought sexual favour from a newly-appointed lecturer of the Chemistry department in the college. He had also accused of having sent lewd messages and made offensive videocalls to the woman.

After the woman informed her family about the harassment, her father had lodged a complaint in this regard at Bolagarh police station on Tuesday. On the basis of the complaint, the police launched a probe into the allegations and arrested the principal on Wednesday. He was later produced in a local court.

It may be noted that an Assistant Professor of Gangadhar Meher (GM) University in Sambalpur was arrested in July this year on charges of maintaining physical relationship with a female student on false promise of marriage.
