Jajpur: The principal and a lecturer of Abhimanyu Samanta Singhar Degree College at Balia in Odisha’s Jajpur district were suspended after a student alleged that the two attempted to rape her.
Sources said that the sub-collector of Jajpur has issued the suspension orders for principal Sudhir Kumar Rout and economics lecturer Bidyadhar Dhal following the serious allegation brought against them. Both have been placed under suspension with immediate effect.
Both have reportedly been absent from the college since the allegations surfaced. A case was filed at the Bari police station. The two accused have been absconding since the female student lodged a complaint against them, as per police.
The two accused have been suspended pending disciplinary proceedings against them for negligence in duty. They have been directed not leave the headquarters without obtaining prior permission from the competent authority.
As per information, a final-year Plus 3 student of the college had filed a complaint alleging molestation by Dhal. Despite attempts to resolve the issue, no solution was found and the student filed a written complaint against Dhal and Rout on January 15. Further details are awaited.
