Two Students Drown In Sea At Puri’s Astarang

Konark: Two students of a private engineering college died after they drowned in the sea at Astarang in Odisha’s Puri district on Sunday afternoon.

According to sources, six students of Silicon Engineering College in Bhubaneswar had gone for a picnic near the sea at Jahania Pir of Astarang this morning.

After arriving at the picnic spot, they frolicked in the sea. While taking bath, they were swept away by strong currents.

Some locals present on the shore, managed to rescue five of them.

Of the five rescued students, two students were rushed to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar, where another student succumbed to his injuries. The condition of another student was stated to be critical, hospital sources said.

Meanwhile, Fire Services personnel from Astarang fished out the body of the missing student and took it to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Astarang.
