Bhubaneswar: A college student, who had gone missing and remained untraced, was found dead in a guest house in the city on Wednesday. This is second student missing case in the city in a week.
According to reports, third year commerce student Abhishek Kumar Nayak of Urali under Sadar police station in Cuttack district had gone missing since March 22. His family had lodged a complaint with police stating that Abhisek had gone to OMP Square at 5 pm on the day but did not return home. They suspected that he might be murdered.
Abhisek was reportedly staying in the guest house in Sailashree Vihar of Bhubaneswar since March 22. Besides pursing his studies, he was engaged in online stock market trading.
On Wednesday morning, the guest house officials informed the police that Abhisek was not opening the door of his room. The police arrived at the spot and broke open the room to find him dead.
While initial investigation points at suicide by poisoning, police have filed a case of unnatural death and further investigation is on.
In an earlier case, a young girl of Jagannath Vihar here, who was pursuing her Plus III in Rama Devi Women’s University in Bhubaneswar, has remained untraced since she was missing on March 21.
