Netflix is planning to roll out an India-specific low-cost plan within the next 3 months.
It will be a mobile-only plan as India is a price-sensitive and “mobile-first” market, the company, which competes with Amazon’s Prime Video and Hotstar in the country, said on Wednesday.
Netflix, which lost customers for the first time in the USA, is hoping to tap into India where data plans are one of the cheapest in the world.
It had tested a ₹250 per month plan a few months back.
The company has already made successful India-specific releases such as Sacred Games, which star mainstream Bollywood actors such as Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
