Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police busted a dacoity gang on outskirts of Bhubaneswar with the arrest of six miscreants on Sunday night.
According to the police, the gang was plotting a dacoity in Rangabazar area under Balianta police limits when they were apprehended by the cops.
The accused were identified as Sambit Dakua of Nayagarh, Samir Nayak of Ganjam, Rama Swain of Aska, Sanjay Sahu of Balianta, Somanath Behera of Balipatana, and Kalandi Mallick of Balipatana.
“Sanjay Sahu has criminal antecedents with multiple cases registered in his name at Balianta. We are investigating further into the operations of the gang,” the police said.
The police has seized a pick-up truck, a two-wheeler, five mobile phones, iron rods, cutters, chilly powder and other incriminating materials from their possession.
The accused were booked under relevant Sections of the IPC and remanded in judicial custody, the police added.
