Cuttack: In a major breakthrough in the murder of migrant worker from Bihar, Commissionerate Police on Wednesday arrested prime accused Munnilal Sharma and his aide Kailash Choudhury.

Informing mediapersons about the murder case Cuttack DCP Prateek Singh said illicit relationship was the reason behind the murder of the worker, Azad Yadav. Yadav was missing since February 25  and his body was found on March 3 on Mahanadi river bank near Bhuasuni under Bidanasi police limits.

Efforts are on to nab a contractor Pankaj Sharma, who had allegedly hatched the murder plan. Giving reasons, the DCP said Yadav was in an relationship with Pankaj’s wife. The two had eloped to Bihar last year but she returned home after the panchayat in Yadav’s native village settled the issue.

Yadav returned about three months before his murder and approached Munnilal for work following which they started working again.

During this time, Pankaj asked his uncle, Munnilal to eliminate him. Pankaj also gave him Rs 20,000 advance and assured to pay another Rs 20,000 after the murder, said Singh. Kailash was roped in by Munnilal.

The duo called Yadav to a place near Bhuasuni and when he reached the place Munnilal attacked him with a broken liquor bottle in an inebriated state.  Initially, Yadav tried to escape but Munnilal chased and killed him with boulders, said the DCP.
