Bhubaneswar: In order to deal with the cases of minor boys and girls leaving their families in lure of false promises and getting exploited, the Commissionerate Police of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack has launched an initiative, ‘Prarambh’.
Director General of Police Sunil Bansal launched ‘Prarambh’ at Bhubaneswar DCP office which would provide assistance to rescue the victims and help the families prevent such incidents.
Speaking on the occasion, Bansal said besides coordinating in the rescue operation of missing minor boys and girls, the initiative would provide counselling to the parents who face such situation. “Apart from aggrieved families, general people facing issues with their children can avail the counselling at the renovated campus. Since the issue involves a social perspective, we want to face it with an integrated initiative,” he said.
According to police sources, most of the missing cases of minor girls have been found to be related to elopement. Taking advantage of the innocence of these girls, the unscrupulous people convince them to elope and then subject them to sexual exploitation. The ‘Prarambh’ aims at dealing with such cases, they added.
The Commissionerate Police has roped in some NGOs, working in this field, for implementation of the scheme. Top police officers of the state and members of the NGOs were present at the inaugural function.
