Bhubaneswar: Police Commissioner YB Khurania on Monday launched a special web portal to create general awareness among the people on road safety issues.
Inaugurating the website, www.bhubaneswarcuttacktrafficpolice.in, Khurania said it contains comprehensive information on traffic offences, symbols, driving licenses and provisions of the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act.
The web portal will be informative for citizens of the twin cities, he added.
The website also contains information related to accidents and first aid, road safety and different enforcement gadgets.
“This web portal has been launched by the Commissionerate Police Traffic Wing to create awareness among the masses on road safety issues. Its URL is bhubaneswar-cuttacktrafficpolice.in. All information relating to road safety and laws has been provided on this web portal,” said Khurania.
The website has seven chapters such as Traffic Congestion, Feedback and Contact Forms, Learning Signs and Symbols, Learning Rules and Regulations, Student Traffic Volunteer Scholarship Scheme Form Download and Prepaid Auto Prices and Test Your Skills.
“It is also an interactive website. After each chapter, there is a quiz. Those who are browsing our web portal can test their respective IQ level on traffic,” said Khurania.
For the first time, the Commissionerate Police has also introduced cooling jackets for traffic personnel. When worn by traffic personnel during summer, these jackets will have a cooling effect equivalent to 10-12 degrees centigrade.
A total of 16 TVS Apache 160 CC motorbikes were also given for PCR patrolling duty. Six such motorcycles have already been allotted by Commissionerate Police in the recent past.
