Bhubaneswar: In its drive against drink and drive, the Commissionerate Police has nabbed drivers of 33 vehicles in Bhubaneswar and collected fine of more than Rs 5 lakh in Cuttack.
In two different posts in its official handle in X (formerly Twitter), the Commissionerate Police said teams of DCP Traffic PK Rout and ACP Traffic Jayant Kumar Dora along with officers and staff of the police stations concerned carried out breath analyser test of the vehicle drivers in Bhubaneswar on Saturday night.
During the drive under its Safe City exercise, as many as 33 vehicle drivers were found driving after consumption of alcohol. The drive was conducted on Cuttack Road, Nandankanan Road, Janpath, Lewis Road and Khandagiri Road on the direction of Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prateek Singh.
In another post, the DCP, Cuttack said 586 vehicles were checked during the drive to check the movement of miscreants, anti-socials and drunk driving in the last 24 hours. While 448 e-chalans were issued and 2 driving licences suspended, fine of Rs 5,33,000 was imposed during the drive.
