Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has launched a crackdown on sex racket operating in the guise of spa centres, salons and massage parlours in Bhubaneswar.
The special drive comes in the wake of detection of a sex racket operating in a spa near Ravi Talkies in the capital city.
Sharing information about the drive, Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra said the aim is to eradicate flesh trade being run in the guise of spa centres in the city.
Direction has been issued to all the police stations to take the matter seriously and conduct raids at spa centres and saloons functioning in their respective jurisdiction.
Referring to the racket busted near Rabi Talkies Square, he said an FIR has been filed with Badagada police station in connection with the incident in which a minor girl was forcibly engaged in a spa and tortured. Two people have been arrested in this connection.
The matter came to the fore after locals heard the scream of the victim who was allegedly being subjected to physical torture and informed the police. The survivor was allegedly forced into prostitution.
