Commissionerate Police To Restructure Reception Desks

By
OB Bureau
Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police has decided to change the modus operandi of the reception desks in police stations.

Henceforth, the constable in charge of the reception desk will have to accept the complaint of any person regarding any criminal offence or any other crime.
In a circular issued to all police stations, the Commissionerate Police has directed the in-charge officers to accept any complaint including vehicle and mobile theft and missing of important documents. After receiving the complaint, the constable will give complaint case number so that the complainant instead of coming to the police station again can know the status of the case over the phone.
The police station concerned can also inform the status of the case to the complainant through SMS.

If the complaint is related to any cognizable offence, the in-charge officer of the police station will apprise the complainant of the status of the case after the investigation.
