Bhubaneswar: Taking a dig at the previous BJD government over the appointment of Odisha State Food Commission Chairperson, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Wednesday announced that a committee will be formed to look into the posting.
Targeting the previous government in the Assembly, the Minister claimed that though several highly qualified and competent aspirants had applied for the post, a person facing corruption charges was appointed.
Surprisingly, the previous government ignored some worthy persons while making the appointment.
Stating that some former IFS officials had applied for the post, the Minister sought to know as to why a person with BA qualification was appointed for the post, which is comparable to the post of chief secretary, with a monthly salary of Rs three lakh.
The Minister further announced that a committee will be constituted to look into the matter. If the appointment process is found inappropriate, the person concerned will be relieved from the post of Food Commission Chairman, he said.
No senior BJD leader was immediately available for comment.
