Complete Lockdown In Raipur From April 9-19

Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government has decided to impose total lockdown in Raipur district and the capital city from April 9 to 19 following a steep spike in coronavirus cases.

The decision was announced hours after Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel held a meeting with senior health officials to review the situation vis-à-vis availability of hospital beds for COVID-positive patients.

Expressing grave concern over the rising number of COVID-19 cases and deaths in Chhattisgarh, Baghel pleaded with people not to step out of their houses unnecessarily and strictly follow safety protocols.

Chhattisgarh recorded 9,921 new cases in the last 24 hours, the highest single-day surge since the outbreak of pandemic in March 2020.

Raipur is the first district to impose total lockdown amid the second wave in India.

Maharashtra, the worst-affected state, has declared partial lockdown, while some other states have declared night curfew in specific districts.
