Composite Facility Centres To Come Up In Medical Colleges In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In order to carry forward chief minister Naveen Patnaik’s mission for transformational changes in universal healthcare, the state government has develop composite facility centres in medical college and hospitals in the state.

This was revealed at a high level meeting presided by chief secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra in Bhubaneswar on Thursday. Reviewing the availability of basic allied facilities in the campuses of medical college and hospitals in the state, directed the Health and Family Welfare department to prepare a plan for facilities like permanent Ahara Kendra, attendant rest shed, ATM, OMFED stall and food cafeteria for attendants/day care patients/staff and doctors.

He said the rest sheds should be spacious enough for the stay of the attendants when the patient is in hospital. It should have proper toilet and bathroom facilities.

Mahapatra also directed that the food cafeteria should have cleanly maintained common eating space with three to four counters serving different kinds of foods. Hygiene and cleanliness in food preparation and serving should be strictly maintained in these counters. He directed the department to prepare the layout plan in 15 days.

The state has three old medical college and hospitals at Cuttack, Berhampur and Burla. Recently, 5 new medical colleges at Baripada, Balasore, Balangir, Koraput and Puri have been made operational and 2 more are coming up in Sundargarh and Keonjhar.

Participating in the discussion, Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Health and Family Welfare, Raj Kumar Sharma said such basic allied facilities would be developed in all these intuitions as per available space keeping in view convenience of the day care patients, attendants, students in medical college, staff and doctors.

Director, Medical Education and Training, Rashmi Ranjan Mohanty; Managing Director, Odisha Medical Corporation Ltd, Yamini Sadangi along with senior officers of the department participated in the discussions.
