Bhubaneswar: Health Minister Pratap Jena on Saturday said the condition of Kandhamal twins Jaga-Kalia, who underwent separation surgery on Wednesday, is stable.
“Jaga’s health condition is improving faster than that of Kalia. He has started moving his hands. As per the AIIMS doctors, it will take some more time for the twins to be completely stable. We are hopeful that they will recover completely with the grace of Lord Jagannath and return to Odisha soon,” said the Minister.
Following the marathon surgery, which lasted for 11 hours, the doctors were sceptical about survival of one of twins. AIIMS Neurosurgery Department chief A K Mahapatra had said that Jaga was more fragile health-wise and his condition was more critical. “Both the kids have other health issues. While Jaga has heart issues, Kalia has kidney problems,” he told media on Thursday.
