Bhubaneswar: Confusion among devotees across Odisha over the correct date of Saraswati Puja celebration has now ended. Following a controversy over the date, people were not sure whether they should observe the puja on February 2 or 3.
A controversy had cropped up as different calendars had different dates. However, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), Puri has officially fixed February 2 for the celebration of Saraswati Puja.
As per the latest update of the ‘Niti Prasasaka’ (administrator, rituals) of Shree Jagannath Temple, a clarification has been issued stating that Saraswati Puja would be held on February 2 (Sunday).
The clarification issued by Jagannath temple administration has cleared up all confusion as it has specified the exact date on February 2. It also stated that ‘Ratha Katha Anukula’ for the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and siblings would be held on the same day.
Basanta Panchami or Saraswati Puja will be celebrated in the Srimandir on February 2, followed by the Ratha Katha Anukula ritual.
This decision was taken in a meeting with the astrologers who prepare the almanac, said Jitendra Sahoo, Administrator (ritual) of SJTA.
