Bhubaneswar: With Assembly and Lok Sabha polls round the corner, the Odisha unit of Congress and the BJP are in the race to invite the chief ministers of their respective party to add ‘josh’ to pre-poll campaign in the state.
Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik on Friday said that Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot have been requested to visit Odisha to create a conducive poll atmosphere for the party.
Barring Gehlot, all other three Chief Ministers have given their consent to visit the state.
“We have also requested young leaders like Sachin Pilot and Jyotiraditya Scindia to visit Odisha and take up pre-poll campaign,” he added.
While the tour details of these three Chief Ministers are not yet finalized, the BJP on the other hand, has invited Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Tripura Deputy Chief Minster Jishnu Dev Varma to the two-day national convention of the BJP Janjati (Scheduled Tribe) Rashtriya Morcha in Puri, beginning Saturday.
