Bhubaneswar/New Delhi: All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi on Saturday constituted a three-member team of observers to assess the political situation in the state.
The team includes senior leaders Tamrdhwaj Sahu, Sushmita Dev and Jitendra Singh. They will work alongside AICC general secretary and secretary in-charge of Odisha and submit a joint report to the Congress chief after assessing the situation.
The move is aimed at strengthening the party organisation in the state. It is also believed that Sonia will take a final decision on change in state leadership after reviewing the report.
Earlier in the day, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee chief Prasad Harichandan, Srikant Jena, Ramchandra Khuntia and Kanhu Charan Lenka met Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and discussed the party organisation in the state.
