Bhubaneswar: The election manifesto of Congress is an expression of the deprived and exploited sections of the society, said the party’s media cell coordinator Babita Sharma on Sunday.
Speaking to media persons in Bhubaneswar, Babita said the party’s manifesto has been prepared with inputs collected by Rahul Gandhi from the people during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
“It is not only a manifesto but the voice of the deprived sections of the society. The Congress has made promises to ensure justice to 5 sections of society including youths, women, farmers, labourers and deprived,” she said.
The party has promised to launch a Mahalakshmi scheme across the country under which it will provide ₹1 lakh per year to the oldest woman member of every poor family as an “unconditional cash transfer”.
It has also assured of 10% reservation in jobs and educational institutions for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) of all castes and communities without discrimination, if elected to power in the Lok Sabha elections.
For the farmers, the party has promised waiver of farm loans, guarantee of MSP for their crop, compensation for crop loss within 30 days and abolition of GST on farm products.
