Cuttack: As part of its 11-day statewide protest against hike in petrol, diesel and cooking gas prices, the Congress sold petrol at cheaper rate in the city on Friday.
Led by district Congress president Manas Choudhury, the party workers sold petrol at Rs 80 per litre near the petrol pump at Link Road against the present price of Rs 100.
They also carried out a signature campaign among the consumers coming to the petrol pump against the policies of Central and state governments that have led to hike in fuel prices.
“Both the governments need to take steps to bring down the prices of petrol and diesel which have touched a record high. It has not only led to increase in prices of consumer goods but also affected the common man economically. If no step is taken for roll-back of the fuel prices, the Congress will intensify its agitation,” said Choudhury.
