Cong Zilla Parishad Member & 17 Others Arrested For Attack On Police Station In Odisha’s Malkangiri

Malkangiri: As many as 18 persons including Congress leaders were arrested on Tuesday for alleged attack on a police station in Odisha’s Malkangiri district.

According to sources, the police have arrested zilla parishad member, block chairman and workers of Congress and some persons involved in ganja smuggling in connection with the incident.

The sources said when police conducted a raid on a village under Chitrakonda police station in the district on June 6, the villagers opposed them. As police tried to disperse them, a scuffle ensued and some villagers sustained injuries in the police action.

Later, the villagers led by Congress leaders gheraoed the block office at Chitrakonda. Following the gherao, they went to the police station and attacked the police station by pelting stones and damaging a vehicle.

However, Malkangiri SP said Congress MLA was not present during the attack on the police station.
