Bhubaneswar: Activists of the students’ wing of Odisha Congress staged a demonstration and threw eggs at the residence of Higher Education Minister Suryabansi Suraj in Bhubaneswar on Friday alleging irregularities in the admission process in Utkal University.

A large number of activists gathered outside the residence of the Minister and staged a protest raising slogans.

The demonstrators alleged that irregularities took place in the admission process in Utkal University because of pressure put by the Minister.

Notably, a student has moved the court after being unable to get admission in Utkal University. As per the university authorities, the student concerned failed to come for admission within the stipulated time frame and the seat was allotted to another person as per rule.

While the matter is pending before the court, Congress activists hit the street targeting the Minister.

Meanwhile, state BJP spokesperson Anil Biswal has condemned the step taken by the student wing of Congress. Stating that the mater is now sub-judice, he said if the court givers an order in favour of the student concerned, he will get admission in the university.
