Cuttack: Congress activists on Tuesday clashed with police in front of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) while protesting lack of basic amenities in the area.
The violent protest saw several activists, including Cuttack Nagar Congress president Mohammad Moquim, being detained by police.
“There are no proper arrangements for disposal of sewage in different wards. The civic body has failed to provide safe drinking water to the people. This has led to frequent jaundice outbreaks. The street lights at many places have been damaged due to lack of maintenance. The CMC should initiate immediate and concrete steps to address our grievances, failing which the agitation will be intensified in the days to come,” one of the protestors said.
