Cuttack: A group of Congress activists allegedly ransacked the Purighat police station in Cuttack city on Tuesday while protesting against detention of a party worker.
The party workers led by Congress Cuttack district president Mohammad Moquim barged into the police station and damaged properties including documents and furniture. They also misbehaved with a police officer after being prevented from indulging in vandalism.
The protestors later staged a road blockade in front of the police station by burning tyres.
“The partymen destroyed properties inside the police station protesting against detention of a party worker who had entered Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) office and created ruckus during observance of Bharat Bandh yesterday. Strong action will be taken against those who took law into their own hands,” Cuttack DCP Akhileswar Singh informed.
