Berhampur/Bhubaneswar: Congress’ Aska MLA candidate Manoj Jena, who was shot at by four unidentified persons near Lanjipalli in Ganjam district on Wednesday, succumbed to bullet injuries at a private hospital in Odisha capital late on Thursday.
Jena was grievously injured in the firing incident that took place hours before the counting of votes in Odisha.
The Congress candidate was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur and later shifted to the private hospital in Bhubaneswar, where he breathed his last while undergoing treatment.
According to police, the motive behind the attack is still unclear. “Two police teams have been engaged to look for the accused,” a senior police officer said.
