Bhubaneswar: After being denied a place in the steering committee formed by the Congress for Odisha, veteran leader Narasingha Mishra said it seems that the party does not need him anymore.
Speaking on the formation of a 14-member steering committed constituted by the Congress for the state, Mishra said party leaders and workers are bound to accept the decision taken by the high command.
“It seems the party does not require me any longer. Had they felt my need, they would have included me in the steering committee,” the former Minister told media.
Stating that the party leaders did not hold any discussion with him, the veteran Congress leader said that he was not aware of what was happening. He said his non-inclusion in the committee shows that the party no longer needs him.
Noting that the existence of the Congress in Odisha is not felt by anyone at present, Mishra said following the dissolution of the PCC last month, the party has been virtually without any entity and existence for the last over three weeks.
Though Congress won 14 seats in the recent Assembly elections, its vote share has come down, he said, adding that the party should have convened a meeting to examine the reason behind its poor performance.
However, no such meeting has so far been convened and the party is gradually getting weaker in the state, said Mishra.
Notably, the AICC which had dissolved the OPCC and removed the state president and other office bearers in Odisha, on Wednesday announced the formation of the 14-member steering committee for Odisha with Ajoy Kumar as chairman.
